Frozen T-shirts

Sorry, I meant to elaborate a little bit about the frozen t-shirt contest. I got this idea from my wonderful Family Fun magazine. I looked around online and found plain white t-shirts for 1.79 a piece and ordered a whole bunch. Way more than I needed actually, but that's OK. Then the night before the party I got them all pretty wet, not dripping but not just damp either. Then I folded them and put them between layers of wax paper so they wouldn't stick together. The wax paper was not such a good idea though, because they stuck to the paper. I think I would try plastic wrap the next time. Any way, then I stacked them up on a cookie sheet and put them in the freezer. Not all the shirts were completely frozen by the next day. I should have spread them out a little more than I did. But I did have enough frozen shirts to give everyone a solid folded t-shirt. After they were all done prying their shirts and putting them on, they hung them up on the fence to dry, then towards the end of the party they decorated them with fabric paint in spray bottles. Then the shirt was their party favor to take home. It was really interesting to see how different kids reacted to the frozen shirt. Some just kept slowly working at it, but some got frustrated and just let it sit for a while to thaw. Overall I think it was a good time.

The Giant Cedar

We all went to the Giant Cedar Grove near Elk River on Saturday after the party was all done. The weather was great, and we all had a good time.

This is THE Giant Cedar, but there are some other really big trees all around it. This big one is 18 feet in diameter.

Phase 2 of Stephen's Birthday

Stephen and friends had a good time at the party. We started with a frozen t-shirt contest. I gave everyone a folded frozen t-shirt to unfold and put on. It was pretty fun, and it was nice and cool!

It Rained Today!

The kids all had a great time playing in the rain today.

Stephen's Birthday: Phase 1

I think Stephen had a good birthday yesterday. He had a pirate ship cake that was loaded down with chocolate treasure. I still can't believe he is 8. Up next for the birthday boy is a friend birthday party on Saturday. Should be fun. We're having a frozen t-shirt contest.

Andy Brown

Andy Brown came for dinner and Family Home Evening on Monday last week and we had really good time. We hadn't seen him since Heidi got married. The kids really liked him. Especially Naomi. Once she got over her initial shyness, she wanted to be right next to him the whole rest of the evening.

Primary is Great!

I just have to say that I really love Primary. I liked it when I was a kid, in fact I especially liked Singing Time, but as an adult I really love it. The kids are sweet and cute and so smart and yes very active. Maybe that's why I like it so much; I couldn't possibly fall asleep in Primary. And even though it is loud and there are some kids that could just make you pull your hair out, we are still learning the gospel. In Primary I am constantly reminded that I am a Child of God and that Jesus loves me and that I can be like Him. And the Spirit comes to Primary too and strengthens my testimony.

Hello from our little jungle! I just had to try blogging; my curiosity finally got the better of me.

James, Stephen, and Anne are gone from the jungle for the weekend. They are visiting James' grandparents in Montana. Things have been much quieter around here with almost half of us gone. It's kind of strange not having our normal crazy jungle. When they come home they will bring James Mom and Scott and Benjamin with them. Stephen is especially excited about the fact that the boys won't be outnumbered for a little while. And because he will have cousins to help celebrate his birthday. I can't believe he is going to be 8!!!!!!!!
